Practical Skills

Each student is requird to complete a practical skills component to pass the course and certify in Advanced Wilderness Life Support.  The student has a choice as to where she or he will study the practical skills.

1. Moab Practical Skills Option: You can travel to Moab, Utah on Saturday April 14th and on Sunday April 15th  where we will meet at various venues. On Saturday you will participate in AWLS required workshops. On Sunday you may participate in optional workshops. Look at the "Moab Practical Skills" icon for more information. If you go to Moab, you will need to need to make your own arrangement to get there, but we have reserved the Goose Island A and B campground, large enough for the entire course.  Click here for more information about Moab.  In addition, we will provide a bar-b-que dinner at 6:30 pm Saturday night at Rotary Park.

2. Salt Lake Practical Skills Option: You can stay in Salt Lake and learn the practical skills the following Saturday April 21st. The location is at the Storm Mountain camp ground in Big Cottonwood Canyon in the mountains east of Salt Lake. Look at the "Salt Lake Practical Skills" icon for more information

Testing

Students will take the AWLS certifying written test on Thursday April 19th. The practical skills testing will be done at the end of the practical skills session.
