Wilderness Medicine Rotations for Residents
Below are programs and courses that can be used to study wilderness medicine. You can use these for a rotation in your program, or as a single course.
ALL YEAR - You can earn the AWLS certificate online. Go to Wild Med U. Navigate to How to Study and Pass. Follow the instructions to certify. This can be a two week rotation if you need.
November 4-5, 2023 - This course will be taught on the weekend Fall Creek Falls in Tenessee. Sign up below and more information will be sent to you.. .
April 3- 14. 2023 - This AWLS course is taught in two weeks in Salt Lake and Moab, Utah. Log onto www.awls.info to the AWLS course for details, Then sign up below.
April 21-23, 2023 - This wonderful course is taught in the last two weeks in April every year just outside Zion National Park. For details of the course click here. Look for the Backpacking course and then sign up below.
April 3-15. 2023 - This spectacular course is taught in the beautiful mountains around Chamonix-Mt. Blanc in the middle two weeks of July each year. To learn more about this course and to sign up, navigate to www.chamonixwildmed.org
Search and Rescue in Salt Lake City
April 17-28, 2023 - This one of a kind course is taught in Salt Lake City each spring in April. Topics include lost person behavior, search techniques and indecent command.
